Daily Deal: Shop Vac 12-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum

Shop Vac 12-Gallon Wet Dry Vac

In recent days we heard that the holiday-timed “special value” wet/dry vacs offered by big box retailers this month are under-powered and bundled with puny accessories. One commentor even described the $39 Lowes Shop Vac performance as anemic. This is something we already knew, that the “special buys” are not full-featured or heavy duty models, but many people find the low prices extremely appealing.

Today’s Amazon deal of the day is a 12-gallon Shop Vac that’s powered by a 6.5 peak HP motor. This makes it appreciably more powerful than the puny 4.5HP 14-gallon model recently on sale at Lowes.

The Ultra Pro series wet/dry vac comes with a detachable blower, 8-foot 2-1/2″  lock-on hose, 18-foot power cord, several extension wands, nozzles, a crevice tool, additional 2-1/2″ hose attachments and accessories, a disposable bag, and a pleated filter.

All this for $90 on sale with free shipping. The regular price is about $130+. Deal ends 11/30/12 unless Amazon sells out sooner.

If we were in the market for a new wet/dry shop vacuum, this is probably the model we’d buy.

I have an old one plumbed into my table saw, I’ll plumb this one into my radial arm saw. Thanks for the heads up.

Just got it set up on the radial arm saw so they both come on together. It is quiet and it seems to have what it takes. Good buy. I wonder what “assembled in the US” really means ?

That’s hard to say, but it suggests some of the components were sourced from overseas. Maybe the motor, switches, electrical components?
