Hot Deal: Tekton Screwdrivers (USA Made)

I’ve written about these USA-made Tekton screwdrivers before, and continue to recommend them. I still need to do long-term durability testing, but I don’t have any concerns about it.

Amazon has these screwdrivers on sale, AND they’re eligible for a $10 off $50 holiday promo, ending 12/31/16. I feel that I’d be remiss to not post about these screwdrivers again, even though they were included in a mega holiday deal post from the other day.

It looks like all of the screwdriver sets are eligible for the holiday promo.

The 8pc set, shown above, is the sweet spot, in my opinion, as it comes with a mix of slotted (1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″) and Phillips (#0, #1, #2) that you might use most. Stepping up to the 10pc set gets you 5/16″ slotted and Phillips #3 sizes, but with a big step up in price.

This 8pc set also comes with Phillips and slotted stubby drivers, which I regularly find useful.

All of the other available sets are shown on the same page.

Tekton quality is overall decent, ranging from entry-level to good at great values, such as for these USA-made drivers. Tekton had a hand in designing these screwdrivers, and they’re quite prideful of that. That leads me to put a little more faith in the quality, beyond what I can see first hand.

There are plenty of other Tekton tools also eligible for the $10 off $50 savings.

While not exactly a Hot Deal in the usual way I use this phrase, well, it’s still a hot deal, especially if there are other Tekton tools you need to break that $50 barrier for the promo discount.

    Le Sigh.

I looked at a few Tekton tools I’ve had my eye on (wrenches, sockets etc) and it looks like Amazon raised the prices to compensate for the 10 off 50 deal. I absolutely hate it when they do that.

Those with a Meijer near by can get Tekton tools BOGO 1/2 off. And they run them on sale frequently.

To be fair it’s been a couple days since I was in the “tool isle” there bet the sale was on last Saturday for sure, if I’m not mistaken their sale cycle is usually Thurs thru Weds.

Depends on market. Most areas are Sunday to Saturday, and some are Thursday to Wednesday.

Ok Stuart. I’ve already bought all my presents and I just bought this + the bostitch post below. Plus the extra goodies to get the $10 “discount” whilst spending an extra 30+ per brand. I’m putting this under the umbrella coverage of “xmas gifts” to make it legit.

Please Stop!! 🙂 (keep em coming!).

Thanks for the heads-up. I liked the 16-piece comfort-grip screwdriver set but didn’t want to pay $49.99. The triangular handles seem to be a nice design, but I thought the price was a little high for a lower-cost brand. Getting a deal was nice.

I got that and the Tekton 4-piece hook and pick set (which had dropped in price from $10 to $6 since I first put it on my wish list) plus a cable tie set. I hadn’t seen the Tekton 16-piece screwdriver set for any less anywhere else.

Lots of choices out there in the “cheap” category, Tekton is on sale at Costco quite often in a variety of types of tools, they all look cheap in more ways than one.
Lowes had a nice looking set in this grade of tool on sale for 29 bucks for a 22 piece set with all the drivers in there own foam insert.

The Lowes set was probably a step below this in terms of quality. Not all of the screwdriver body inserts were aligned straight with the screwdriver handle. Overally, I’d say these Tekton units look a little higher quality than the Lowes high-visibility set with the foam insert. The Lowes set did have the wrench / hex drive option on the larger screwdrivers, which are missing on these Tekton units.

Well, when I received an amazon gift card yesterday I knew immediately what one of the things was I was going to get with it was. 8 pc. set should be here for Christmas. It will be nice to not have the random worn assortment of screwdrivers I currently have in my toolbox. Thanks for the heads up.
