For unknown reasons, the mobile collapsible ads started taking on full-heights, with a dismiss button off-screen to the bottom and inaccessible. The ads completely blocked all post content.
I took the ad unit offline until Google fixes their resizing algorithm.
It’s around this time of year that our Google ads start to misbehave. In this case, there are no new “automatic revenue experiments” for me to disable, and so I figure it’s a code update or issue on Google’s ad network end or with how things render.

I’ll tinker with things later or over the weekend during off-hours.
So far, I only have 3 data points, with the issue affecting iPhones with different browsers. For any Android users, did you also see this issue before 10am ET today?
Thanks to Alex for the heads-up!
In general, if you see something that seems broken, or you simply don’t like it, please say something!

Robert
I don’t see any difference on an iPad in the display of ads. Browser is safari.
Stuart
You won’t see it now because I’ve disabled the offending ad block site-wide except for 1 post for testing and troubleshooting purposes.
Did you see anything prior to 10am ET today?
I’m not sure if it affects/affected tablets, the issue was only confirmed to have been observed on phone-size devices. I’ll be able to test it on tablets later.
Robert
I had not looked at the site before 10ET.
Dave
No issues to report on Android over the last few days – I usually check in for a few minutes every morning…
Bonnie
I know it’s probably unwieldy, but have you considered a small subscription or donation option to offset ads? I’ve whitelisted Toolguyd in my ad-blocker a few times, but I just hate seeing ads so much I inevitably go back even with the comparatively decent layout here.
