I noticed that the rechargeable battery for the Bosch laser is also a deal-of-the-day at Lowes, but is not advertised anywhere that I can see. It’s half price, from $30 to $15. The description states that the rechargeable battery provides 60% longer runtime compared to AA batteries. Seems like a great deal for people that use these lasers for a living, but not really an advantage for people like me that just use them at home.

Other than a harder metal, what benefit does a stainless hex set have? Is it needed for a certain grade of fastener or a specific field? (Read as me trying to justify why I should buy a set, just in case)

Stainless steel tools aren’t necessarily harder.

My understanding is that stainless tools work well in certain environments where unintentional contamination (due to plating chipping, flaking, etc) is highly undesirable, such as when working on or around food and beverage equipment.

In our fabrication business we had clients who would specify fasteners and fastening methods so as to reduce or eliminate the possibility of leaving behind detritus that might later oxidize (i.e. rust). So, if you are driving a Phillips stainless steel screw with an ordinary steel bit – you might well leave behind some small flakes of steel that will be subject to rusting.
