Browsing my twitter feed, I noticed Woodpeckers was advertising special pricing on their miter clamp sets. Woodpeckers tools are usually expensive but built with high quality, so anytime they offer a discount it’s a good thing.
I recently took special notice of these clamps after doing a review on Rockler’s Clamp-it Corner Jigs, which can serve a similar purpose using a different design.

A pair of Woodpeckers’ miter clamps allow you to hold together a miter joint using only one clamp. Woodpeckers sells them in sets of 2 pairs of clamps.
These 3″ x 3″ clamps have 1-5/8″ jaws to grip the 4 edges of the miter joint, and are designed so the two component blocks will apply the same clamping pressure to both sides of the joint.
Woodpeckers machines these 3/4″ thick miter clamps from aluminum billet, and like all of their products they are held to very tight tolerances. The clamps are anodized in Woodpeckers’ typical red, which gives them a protective finish against adhesives and other chemicals.
The clamps, or rather clamping brackets, can be used with a bar clamp or other clamp, and are also counterbored for mounting to a workbench or board for use in a fixed jig.
The idea is that you can secure one of the clamp components to a board, and use the other with a toggle clamp or even a bar clamp, as a movable jaw.

On the Woodpeckers site, normal pricing is $25 for a pair (2-pack) of clamps. So you get 2 outer clamping components, and 2 inner clamping components for $25. Regularly, 2-3 sets will cost $24 each, and 4+ sets will cost $23 each.
Bar clamps and toggle clamps are sold separately. You will need 2 clamps to work with the 2 pairs of clamps that come in each set.

Here’s the bad news: I checked and it still costs me $9 bucks to ship a single clamp set, and $15 to ship four.
Carbide Processors still beats Woodpeckers pricing for a single clamp at $22.85, but unfortunately they are out of stock at the moment.

The Woodpecker sales have to be the lamest ever. I’ve never seen anything for sale that was more than one or two dollars less.

Really? Make it $18.99 or throw in free shipping.
I’ve never been able to press go on the Woodpecker site. This is not to say I don’t like their products because I do. I have the lovely coping sled for the router table and plenty of the right angle clamps.

Was just about to commment on the same thing! Their “sales” are clearly just an excuse to send an email reminding everyone the product exists.
Don’t get me wrong, I know extremely precise and professionally machined tools (made right in their shop is the US!) are expensive. I get that.
So I don’t feel entitled for them to offer a discount because “boo hoo it’s too expensive”. It’s fine to want to make profit, that’s what businesses do.
But at the same time, they should either man-up (and offer a real discount) or shut up with these “sales.”
