A reader pointed me towards the Wuben G5 rechargeable flashlight, and just WOW. I really need to get my hands on one.
I’ll go over the main features as they stood out to me – tell me what you think in the comments.
To start off, the form factor looks appealing.

But then I realized how small it was, and that’s when the surprise took over.

It’s small.

But somehow still delivers max brightness of 400 lumens.
There are 3 adjustable lighting modes – low, medium, high.

It has a controllable RGB light, too?
I don’t need that. Well, the red would be convenient. And maybe I can set another color for fun or other purposes.

It’s said to be waterproof to IP68 standards.

And it has a pivoting head, magnet mounting, and pocket clip.
USB-C charging.
All for just $20?! That price is for black or olive green, the white version is $30. Amazon says this is a limited time deal, and it looks like they’re selling a ton of them.
I’ve heard great things about Wuben flashlights before, but haven’t tried them out. The Wuben G5 might just be my first.
That’s a lot of features for $20.
I’ve heard good things and it looks to have really good ratings on Amazon.
Is there anything not to like about this?

Thanks for the post – bought a few for stocking stuffers.

I’ve had the Wuben G5 for maybe a month now. I do like it. Great form factor, does have plenty of features. But I always find myself going back to my Royvon E7 as my EDC. I really like the dual fuel option it has.

I have 4-5 of these around the house and shop for a while now. Love them.

I want it inside a zippo lighter. Just flick open and the light turns on.
Don’t like ordering from Amazon, but going to order this.

I’ll be curious to read about your impressions, Stuart.
I make it a regular habit to read the 3-star reviews on Amazon. I find (almost by definition) that they are the most balanced and free of hyperbole— doesn’t mean, of course, that they’re the most accurate. In this case, there are relatively few 3-star reviews, but there are a number of “pump the brakes” remarks that do give me pause.

Just watched the short video on their site and seeing it clipped on to a hat, and also magnetically attached to a car hood cinched it for me. Green color looks nice, though I wish a bright color could be had for $20.

I’m tickled that you took a look at it Stuart! I’ll look forward to hearing what others in the community think.

One of the YT videos on this was trying to add up the costs of all the parts (a lot in this thing), the fairly complex machining, the assembly, and lastly the shipping, and they’re still able to make a profit after Amazon takes a big chunk. Amazing.

They dropped 12-20 videos on the same day on YouTube when they came out. Its always been 20 bucks and has dropped as low as 16 in the past. Its a heck of a flashlight for the money and has found its way into thr inside of a toolbag as a light for a veto bag. If your slider on the side gets loose like other flashlights they made they will send you repair kits. Good stuff overall.
