Amazon once again has a great discount on the Dewalt DWS780 12″ sliding miter, which is the best model in their AC-powered lineup.
The DWS780 is a fantastic miter saw with huge cutting capacity – up to 2×14 dimensional lumber at 90° – and their excellent Cutline LED shadow line blade positioning system.
Update: This is just a reminder that the Dewalt DWS780 is still at a special buy price of $499 right now.

I tested this saw a while back, and many of Dewalt’s other corded miter saws as well. It delivered a trouble-free experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one – especially at a discounted price – if I were in the market for a 12″ sliding miter saw.
The saw was priced at $599 for a long time before climbing to $649.
At the time of this posting, Amazon has it on sale at $499 for a limited time, which they say reflects a 25% discount from the list price of $669.
Especially given the price increases we’ve seen across the industry, and that even the budget model DWS779 miter saw is $449 at Amazon and Home Depot and even higher at some other places, $499 for the DWS780 is an excellent price.
If you’re unsure, there are always miter saw deals for Black Friday across a range of brands. It has been difficult to predict this year’s deals, but there are bound to be some more promos.
It looks like some other Dewalt tool dealers are matching Amazon’s price, but not all of them.

Price Check: Acme Tools | Home Depot | Lowe’s

Acme has it with the rolling stand for $649 with 10% off that, so about $585.
Nice deal if you also need the stand.

Thanks! Been waiting for a deal like this so I just ordered. Acme definitely with better deals than amazon for this saw alone too at $450.
Nathan
Or if you want just the saw it’s 499 -10%. So acme is cheaper than Amazon assuming free shipping
Josh
In June 2019 I bought this for $454.09 from Amazon and can say it has been a wonderful miter saw. I still don’t feel the need for a festool because of the accuracy I get from the shadow line of the light. It was worth the buy for sure.
Adam
I realized I bought one in 2018 after clicking the link. That was an amazing deal at $372 with rolling stand.
Don
I’ll see what Black Friday brings.
Stuart
I don’t think I’ve ever seen it on sale. The focus is typically on the DWS779 or smaller 10″ and 12″ non-sliding saws at lower price points.
You can search through ToolGuyd’s archive for examples of what to expect.
Then again, Home Depot is reporting over 2800 in stock online and a bunch at my local store, while the DWS779 looks to only be available for online orders. A lot of brands made sourcing changes and promotional changes because of the tariffs.
I don’t think there’s huge potential for the pricing to get better, but there’s also plenty of inventory, reducing the chances it’ll sell out or end soon.

I’m waiting for the Dewalt Planer bundle, DW735XW7350 to go on sale again. I’ve seen it at $699 twice, in the past few months. I waited because I wasn’t ready to buy it until now. But now, I’m building my wife a mew bed frame and shelves. I’ll need it and a jointer for them. Fingers crossed it goes on sale again soon.
Stuart
What price are you waiting for? $699 is usually the best price for the bundle. I’ve seen it go lower in the past, but I don’t know what to expect this year.
If you see it for $699 at HD, buy it. If you see it drop lower within 30 days, contact them for a price adjustment that day (or do a rebuy-return).
Chuck
Sorry, I wasn’t clear in my last post. I saw it at $699 but passed as I didn’t have an immediate need for it then. In a perfect world, every time I saw a good tool deal, I’d buy it but that’s not possible. I just noted the price. Now my wife wants some things built and I need a planer, and jointer for them.
Stuart
Sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it. I asked the question and the proceeded to doublecheck the price history via my notes and older posts.
I know that this is a “don’t need, don’t need it, don’t need it, NEED IT and want a sale price” type of tool, and so I try to include mention whenever I do see it discounted.
Chuck
I didn’t think you did and I didn’t mean anything back at you. My apologies if it came across that way. I was just trying to be clear. I’ve read Toolguyd for over a decade at this point and you have my upmost respect, Stuart. I’m thankful for all the tool deals spotted, and posted. They’ve saved me untold thousands, especially since I now work in HVAC. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a sale on the planner combo. Good to know I shouldn’t wait for it to drop below $699. All that’s left is to decide whether I want to order a Wen 8” jointer or one from Acme with their sale. Any thoughts on Jointers?
Stuart
I don’t recall any notable times when benchtop jointers were discounted for Black Friday or the holidays.
Any discount on a Wen might be good. Amazon had some Wen deals for Prime Day. I don’t see much for past BF or Cyber Monday deals.
There was recently lower pricing on Jet’s jointer. It’s a 6″, but helical rather than “helical style.”

I’ve seen large piles of 780s still shrink-wrapped and unpriced sitting around a few different Home Depots in the last week – my assumption is that there’s going to be a big promo coming soon. I’d be watching closer but I scored a 779 with rolling stand for $499 a couple years ago. Brilliant saw, wish I had the shadow line but can’t say I miss it enough to upgrade.
Stuart
I’m pretty convinced that $499 is the big promo.
Clay
I have a 779 and added the shadowline with a kit. Really nice. I think it was about 80 bucks.
MM
I did the same. It’s easy to add the light to a 779.
Stuart
Everywhere I checked has the DCS779 for $449 right now. For $50 more, just get the DWS780.
