Over at Amazon, today’s “deal of the day” item is this Dremel 4000-2/30 rotary tool kit. It comes with a Dremel 4000-series rotary tool, 2 attachments, and 30 rotary tool accessories.
On sale for just $60 ($59.99 to be exact), this is a nice gift option for the DIYer in your life. It’s a somewhat smallish kit, but comes with a nice starter bundle of sanding, cutting, grinding, and polishing accessories.
There’s also a Dremel 3000-series rotary tool kit that recently dropped in price to $60. The 4000-series tool is more powerful, the 3000-series tool is more compact. The 3000-series kit also comes with 1 attachment instead of 2, and it’s a cutting wheel safety guard.
I’ve got mixed feelings when it comes to rotary tool kits. On one hand, the more you spend, the more you get. But what you often get are attachments you cannot use, or accessories you don’t want.
You could also spend less on a rotary tool kit, such as on this deal of the day, or on the 3000-series bundle, and then spend more on an all-purpose accessory set ($26 via Amazon) or a premium EZ Lock accessory set ($49.99, before $10 “clip & save coupon”).
If you’re buying this as a Father’s Day gift for someone else, this is a nice well-rounded combo. If you’re buying for yourself, this is still a nice package, but be sure that it’s the one you want.
If you ask me, the 4200 rotary tool is the way to go if you want Dremel’s latest and greatest model, and the 3000 rotary tool is the way to go if you want a more compact and less expensive model.
Not that the 4000 series rotary tool is bad in any way, it’s just a sort of in-between model these days. I used the 4000 series rotary tool quite a bit before the 4200 series model entered the picture.
As for this deal, it’s a good bundle for a great price. It’s normally priced at around $85, so you save $25.
Deal ends 2:59 am ET on 6/9/2015.
