Gerber is recalling about 119,000 Bear Grylls Parang machetes due to laceration hazard. There’s a part of the handle that can break off during use, leading to handle or blade failure.
There have been 24 reports of breakages including one laceration injury that did not requite stitches.
If you bought one of these machetes between January 2011 and June 2012, or Gerber’s Apocalypse Survival Kit, stop using it and contact Gerber about a free replacement. You can reach them at (877) 314-9130 Monday-Friday 9-5 PT.
