I was hoping Rockler would have the xl silicone mat at a steep discount for BF. I don’t need one, but if it were less money it would be nice to have.

It still might be discounted at some point, as there’s a full month of sales between now and Christmas.

You can buy silicon cooking mats that are larger, but a little less thick for much less money. You can get a set of two large cookie sheet size for less than the Rockler.

Love Rockler stuff. Most innovative and creative supplier of useful woodworking equipment. Hard for me to keep my credit card in my pocket when I’m near a web page or catalogue. I will reinvest my mat savings in Rockler treasures.

I use 4 large kitchen silicone mats bought from Amazon, they came out to $14 each. Since using them, I would never buy the Rockler ones because a smooth mat allows wet glue to be cleaned off easily, wiping a smooth surface is just better than trying to wipe a textured surface.

I bought the Rockler mats and they are indeed tacky, which is good and bad. They stay put on the bench, but everything sticks to them. Wood chips have to get vacuumed off, they can’t be swept off. Dust just sticks, I do the best I can with a vacuum, but some dust will always remain.

That’s a good idea, John and Mike. I have silicone baking mats, but they have some weavelike stiffeners in them and I don’t think they’d stay put on the workbench. I’ve looked at some on amazon some are large, but may not stay put on the workbench, or too stiff, like the ones I have. Did you have some that you thought were flexible and would stay put on the workbench and were thicker?

These are the exact mats I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071RFFLGC/

They stay on my work surface without shifting around. Having multiple mats allows me to have them in different places, or to cover a larger workbench area using more than one mat.

Just pick your favorite color. I chose brown because I don’t need crazy “brand” colors everywhere.
