Ryobi Tape Measures on Sale – Yes, RYOBI

Ryobi 25-foot Tape Measure

Over at Home Depot, Ryobi tape measures are on sale. Yes, Ryobi tape measures. Nearly a year after I first posted about them, I still cannot quite believe it.

But it makes sense, I guess. Ryobi fans might find them appealing from a brand loyalty standpoint, and for those not yet familiar with the brand, they might be drawn in based on price. The brand might be on the top of their mind, leading to Ryobi being shortlisted for their next power tool or accessory purchase.

I questioned the marketing purposes behind another brand’s tool once, and was told something along the lines of Q4 brand familiarity. Top-of-mind brand recognition is also a thing.

Anyway, these tapes are $9 each, seemingly online only (for now?), or you can buy a 2-pack for $11. So that’s what, $5.50 each when you buy two? Seems like a good price. User reviews seem positive so far.

The 25′ tape measure has 7 feet of standout, a nylon-coated blade, reinforced rubber overmolded housing, and a wire clip.

Price: $11 for the 25′ tape measures 2-pack

What’ll they come out with next? Flashlights?

If I didn’t already have a tape I’d buy it. Just out of brand loyalty

@ this price point you don’t care if it breaks, get stolen or left on a jobsite vs. $20 or $30 MKE, DW or Stanley tape measure.

I need a good tape for my main kit, a tape for my back if car kit, a tape to loan to my out of town friend, a tape for my in town friend, 1 for each tool drawer in the house, 1 for wife’s office, another dozen lost in the garage. I bought 2 of these for more than the current price and am quite happy with them. One had become my front seat takye for going on estimates and I’m not sure what happened to the other. It’s no fat Max, but I’m not sure where that guy ended up and this one does just fine.

I have a couple Fat Max tapes for my shop that I like to use. Cheaper tapes get beat up too easily, and I like the longer standout (7′ will not quite do it for 8+’ lumber / sheet goods). I got a free Harbor Freight tape that gets generic use in the house… no big deal if it’s lost or damaged. That seems to fill the need that this Ryobi tape might.
