Hot Deal: Bosch 18V DDB181 Drill Kit for $100

Bosch 18V DDB181 Drill Driver

The new Bosch DDB181-02 18V drill kit is on sale at Amazon for just $100. If my notes are correct, it was released at $120-140, and so this is a pretty good deal.

You get the drill/driver, (2) 1.5Ah batteries, a charger, and a kit bag. The description says you get 2.0Ah batteries, but I have a test kit from Bosch and it came with 1.5Ah batteries.

The DDB181 drill delivers 350 in-lbs of peak torque, which isn’t too bad considering it was designed to be really compact. It’s smaller all around compared to my much-loved DDS181 drill. The DDB181’s grip is smaller, the housing smaller, and the 1/2″ chuck is thinner.

While a basic drill, you get incredibly good bang for your buck with this kit. I haven’t used it very much yet, but I like that you essentially almost a 12V form factor with 18V runtime. It’s not too shabby in the power department, but it’s also not going to be up to drilling very large or deep holes or driving very large fasteners.

It’s unclear as to when the promo price will end, but I don’t expect it to last beyond the holiday season. What I’ve seen in the past indicates that this is probably a limited time deal.

This kit is NOT eligible for the ongoing $25 off $100+ holiday promo.

In next year’s Best Cordless Drills roundup, this Bosch will likely unseat the Hitachi as my 18V value/budget pick.

Other $100 drill deals include a Makita 1-battery hammer drill kit, Porter Cable 20V drill kit, and Dewalt DCD771 drill kit.

It might be available at Ohio Power Tool for $105 and seems to be eligible for their $25 off deal, Not sure what shipping adds to this.

Picked up this kit from Lowes on Black Friday. The batteries are 1.5Ah.
The drill it self is just a little bit bigger than my 12V Makita drill and only slightly heavier.

  5. But it's me!

I picked up one of these last year, mostly for the batteries, which I can confirm were 1.5Ah. Not the most long lasting of batteries, but having another drill handy was enough to make me splurge. Definitely not as powerful (gearing sounded a little weak) a drill as my other Bosch, but plenty fine for most DIY purposes.
