Preview of Bosch’s New PS41 Compact Impact Driver

Mar 25, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Just when we thought we covered all of Bosch’s new 12V compact lithium ion cordless tools, we caught a glimpse of one more, the new PS41-2A impact driver. The PS41 is an update to the venerable but dated PS40, and like Bosch’s new PS21 pocket driver and PS31 drill/driver, the new impact driver appears to have been significantly […]

More About Bosch’s New PS21 and PS31 Drill/Drivers

Mar 24, 2010 Stuart 1 Comment

After our post about the new Bosch PS31 3/8″ drill/driver went live earlier today, I realized that the PS21 Pocket Driver is essentially identical to the newly redesigned PS31 drill, except for their different chucks (1/4″ hex vs. 3/8″).

Mar 24, 2010 Stuart 4 Comments

Following hot on the heels of the newly redesigned PS21 Pocket Driver is Bosch’s new PS31-2A 12 volt 3/8″ cordless drill/driver, which improves upon their PS30 model. The newest addition to Bosch’s lineup of compact lithium-ion cordless tools is lighter, more compact, and stronger than its predecessor.

Wera Koloss Ratchet with Hammer Function

Mar 24, 2010 Stuart 6 Comments

Wera has recently announced the Koloss, a new heavy duty 1/2″ drive addition to their lineup of innovative ratchets. Even stranger in appearance than Wera’s swivel-head Zyklop ratchet, the Koloss features a ratchet built into a hammer head. Yes, that’s right, the Koloss is a real ratchet-hammer combo tool that is said to be unbreakable.

Pliers in the Sky in England

Mar 23, 2010 Stuart Discuss

I thought you might enjoy this image of pliers floating in the sky in England. It looks like a Google streetview driver briefly left pliers on top of his camera while mapping a neighborhood. Check out the blunder here, or via the story on Geekologie. Oh, and please feel free to share any clever captions you come […]

New Bosch PS21-2A 12V Max 2-Speed Pocket Driver

Mar 22, 2010 Stuart 4 Comments

Bosch has just announced the PS21-2A, an upgraded short-nose Pocket Driver in their lineup of 12V Max compact cordless power tools. Compared to the popular PS20 Pocket Driver, the PS21-2A is smaller, faster, and can output twice the maximum torque. Bosch’s new and improved Pocket Driver is described as the most compact and powerful screwdriver in its class! Skeptical […]

Is 12V Enough Power for Most Cordless Tools?

Mar 22, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

In recent years new compact 12V cordless tools – impact drivers, drills, saws, multi-tools, and so forth, have been flooding the market, and the selection of new tools keeps growing and growing. While they’re not suitable for all tasks, we have accepted that these compact tools are capable of handling many low to medium duty applications. There […]

Early April Fools Joke or Awesome Multitool?

Mar 22, 2010 Stuart 5 Comments

I spotted this creatively altered image of a hammer-ratchet multitool over at the ShopNGarage forum. It may be hard to believe, but as unusual as a hammer-ratchet multitool would be, I’ve been pitched strangers tool combination ideas before. Have a neat photoshopped/GIMPed multitool of your own? Send a pic of it our way via email. […]

Inova X5 LED Flashlight

Mar 19, 2010 Stuart 3 Comments

Inova’s X5 is a great LED flashlight at an affordable price. The X5 features 5 LEDs that output a maximum of 60 lumens, has a durable aerospace-grade aluminum body, and runs on CR123 lithium batteries. Like Inova’s other X-series flashlights, the X5 has a knurled twist switch, and machined flats around its body that makes the flashlight […]

Shop Tip: Wire Stripper Loop Holes & How to Use Them

Mar 17, 2010 Stuart Discuss

I came across a rather enlightening shop tip over at the ShopNGarage forum, that demonstrates the use of a wire stripper’s loop holes. Most of my wire strippers have similar holes, but they’re all unlabeled and I never stopped to think about what they could be used for. Well, now I know!

Non-Marring Hammer for Woodworking?

Mar 16, 2010 Stuart Discuss

I spotted this tiny non-marring hammer over at a recent Woodworking show. With dime-sized replaceable brass and plastic heads, this hammer is most likely used for precision tool setup or maintenance, unless there are other woodworking applications that I’m not yet aware of.

Gerber’s new Microbew features a water resistant LED light built into a bottle opener. The Microbew has a stainless steel body, recessed switch to prevent accidental activation, replaceable batteries, and regulated circuitry. Gerber Microbrews are available with either white or red LEDs, and should soon be available at retailers for $12.50. The only concern we have about the Microbew is […]

Over at the Woodworking Show we recently visited, I spotted an incredible working wood geared clock kit by Woodline. These photos hardly do the clock justice – it was far more spectactular in person.
